News and Views Project

This term you will become a news blogger!

What is that I hear you ask?

A news blogger reports the news but most importantly gives their opinion on the stories. Blogs are public pages on the web that also allow comments from other people.
Before you begin:

Task to be completed weekly:
1. Choose and watch one story from ABC Behind the News
(You may need to watch it more than once & you can also read the transcript below the video)

2. Write your Blog including:
  • headline that catches the reader's attention
  • summary of the news story including main points
  • your opinion with supporting reasons
  • at least one of: picture/video/links to other relevant sites
  • hyperlink to the BtN story you chose

3. Comment on at least 3 other classmates' Blogs
  • comments can be agreeing or disagreeing with the bloggers opinion
  • comments can be adding more information to the debate
  • comments can be adding your own personal experience of the issue
  • comments must not be directed at the blogger personally, but at their opinion
    • GOOD comment: "I totally disagree with your opinion, the main reason being..."
    • BAD comment: "What a stupid idea, how could you possibly argue in favour of XXX."
